In the Maxoptra System, the drivers window is used to document information about drivers hired by the transportation company.

Many parameters of a driver affect automatic planning:

  • The "Availability hours" define driver's work/break time for each day which is taken into account when planning;
  • The "Break can be automatically shifted by” makes planning more effective by shifting the driver's breaks;
  • "Duty time limit" and "Driving limit" parameters define planning boundaries by limiting how many hours the driver can work per shift and how many hours per shift the driver can drive.

Note: During manual planning some or all of these rules can be ignored.

 

To create a new driver:

  1. Ensure Account Administrator is selected under ‘Role’.
  2. Open the ‘Settings’ screen.
  3. Highlight ‘Drivers'.

On the bottom toolbar of this screen, click ‘Add’ and the following screen should now appear:

       1. At ‘Name’ type the name of the driver.

       2. In the ‘Cost per hour’ field, specify the cost (in pounds) for one hour of work of the driver.

       3. At the bottom left corner of the screen where it reads ‘Availability hours’, select the days of the week when the driver is available and specify the driver’s work and break time for each selected day.

       4. In the ‘Break can be automatically shifted by’ field, specify the amount of time (in minutes) acceptable for shifting the break time, which is specified in the ‘Availability hours’ section of the screen.

       6. In the ‘Duty time limit’ field, specify maximum amount of hours the driver can work per shift.

       7. In the ‘Driving limit’ field, specify how many hours per day the driver can drive.

       8. At the 'Distribution Centre’ dropdown list on the right side of the screen, you will need to select the distribution centre this driver is assigned to.

       9. If necessary, specify other (optional) parameters of the driver.

       10. Click ‘Save’. This will close the form. To create a new driver click 'Add' and follow the above mentioned steps.
